Harvest Restaurant, Coolum

With many recommendations and the highest ranking for the area on Zomato, Harvest was at the top of our hitlist for dinner in Coolum.

We were all quite surprised by the appearance of the restaurant, it looked like your average café, not a fine dining restaurant. There weren’t even table cloths on the tables. As always, you should never judge a book by its cover.

We ordered a lovely bottle of champagne to start, the Blue Pyrenees Vintage Brut. It was a great choice and reasonably priced too.

The amuse-bouche arrived quickly, a mushroom and truffle soup – it was probably my favourite part of the entire meal! Deliciously creamy, not too rich and just enough of a portion to leave you wanting for more.

We share the ginger and beef deep dumplings to begin, they were tasty and the ginger provided a nice kick.

The girls both had the barramundi for their mains, the fish was beautifully cooked and paired with soda noodles. For my main, I had the rabbit and olive ragout gnocchi, I wasn’t very impressed. The gnocchi had been fried and there wasn’t very much to it. The sauce was okay and there wasn’t much rabbit. Not what I had expected I guess.

For dessert Jill and I shared the sticky date pudding. It was wonderfully presented and very sweet, a goo way to finish off the meal.

I wouldn’t be in any giant rush to return but I shall do one day.
