Just outside of Whanganui you will find Windmere Farm. Some of the best berries in the world are grown on the farm!
There’s berry picking, a cafe with fresh strawberry ice cream (I’m lactose intolerant but it looked amazing – be weary of long wait times) and the waffles are said to be amazing. There’s also two pet Llamas, who really barely moved but were cute nonetheless.
For $9 you can pick an ice cream punnet full of your own delicious strawberries from the fields. AND what’s even better, is while you’re out there you can eat as many as you like! I’m a strawberry fiend so this was the best news!
My top tip for picking; head to the end of the rows. People get so excited they fill their container before they get there.
