The Brunswick Project For Bloody Mary Eggs, New Farm

Bloody Mary scrambled eggs. Hmmm. A rather unique menu item at The Brunswick Project in New Farm, so I thought I would give it a go!

The plate is presented like any other scrambled eggs, toast but with chimmichurri, volcanic smoked salt shaved celery and, a small jug of Bloody Mary mix to pour over your eggs!

It was… different. Enjoyable but slightly overwhelming towards the end. I suggest pouring the mix a little over your eggs at a time so you can have a break if you feel like it.

It was a lovely spot sitting outside on the balcony in a bit of Queensland sunshine. Pet friendly too of course.

Summer House Kangaroo Point – Ah-sigh-ee Delight

I have visited Summer House in Kangaroo Point a number of times recently for a few reasons. Firstly, it’s walking distance from my house and that’s always nice. Secondly, their menu rocks! Particularly the breakfast menu. And thirdly, their venue is an secluded, funky garden patio, covered with trees and quirky hidden flamingos! Oh, and they have live music. And tapas. Everyone loves tapas.

Anyway, this particularly occasion, I went there to try their Acai (ah-sigh-ee) bowl. I have been on an acai trail around Brisbane lately (and everywhere else I go if I’m honest) and this is one of the best I have had! Why? Well it was blended with strawberries. There’s little, delicious berries throughout the acai giving extra pops of flavour. Of course there’s the coconut yoghurt, the crunchy granola and the fresh berries too which all comes together to make a delightful little bowl of healthy goodness!

If you don’t feel like something quite so healthy (hello hangover, I’ve seen you round here before) then the breakfast burger is the go!! Spicy hollandaise, avocado, halloumi, fried egg, bacon, spinach & brioche bun – I can see you drooling. I smashed one a couple of weeks ago after a big night out. Def did the trick!!

Indulge Cafe, Bundaberg

We heard rumours that this was the best cafe in Queensland from an experienced travel writer – we had to check it out!

It doesn’t open until 8.30, we were hanging for our coffees after waiting out the front for the cafe to open.

That aside, the menu looks phenomenal and I could quite happily make my way right through the entire thing!

Modern and intricate decor, beautiful and fresh pastries on the counter. We chose the window bar to people watch.

Almond chai latte – on point.

Could hardly make my mind up on which breakfast item, finally settling on the W.A. black Truffle scrambled eggs on sour dough with rich tomato ragu, crispy local bacon and pecorino. At $20 I thought it was very reasonable.

The meal didn’t take long to come out and was delightful! You could smell and taste the truffle, the ragu was rich and the bacon cooked perfectly.

Brandon went with the Turkish eggs, they looked beautiful and apparently tasted great too!

Can’t wait to go back again soon!

Flute, Coorparoo, Brisbane

Truffled scrambled eggs for breakfast?! Hell yeah!

My friend Benny was staying from Bundy and we were looking for somewhere for breakfast. I saw the truffle and it was love at first sight.

There’s an interesting atmosphere, it’s quite quiet and one side is very clean and minimal while the other is busy and luxurious, all in a small space.

My soy chai latte was delish and the truffled scrambled eggs with a dash of pesto, lots of Parmesan and wonderful toasted Turkish pide was amazing.

Ben loved his Thai fish cakes and they looked beautiful.

Neither of us could finish our meals and they were very reasonably priced. The chef and staff were lovely and attentive.

Great spot for breakfast around Coorparoo.

My new breakfast obession

So I’ve many friends on the get fit and healthy train at the moment and I saw a few of then were making these paleo pancakes so I thought I would give it a go!

My recipe isn’t paleo but it’s still healthy and delish. Serving is for one.

– 1 mashed banana
– 2 beaten eggs
– some chopped dates
– pinch of cinnamon

Mix it all up and cook on an oiled (coconut if possible) fry pan for a few mins.

Ta daaaa!!

I’m also going to try it with some apple or almond milk. I’m sure there are heaps of great additions you could throw in.

Quick, healthy and yum. Gets my tick!

The Bench, Penticton

Such a quaint little cafe with a beautiful outdoor patio, fantastic food and funky gifts.

Merica and I shared our meals, the bacon & egger and the yogurt with granola – both were delicious. I actually expected the bacon & egger to just be normal bacon and eggs so I had a surprise when they bought out an english muffin!

I also got a yummy take away almond cherry & chocolate cookie mmm

Cute place to brunch in the sun.
