Greymouth to Glaciers

Dave had a meeting in the morning so we thought we would check out the Monteith Brewery Tour. Everyday at 10.30am it said on the website, but evidently not this day.

Frustrated as we had been dumped for a few hours we ordered breakfast (poached eggs on salmon cakes with watercress) and sat in front of the fire spinning yarns.

We walked around town. If you know Greymouth, you’ll know there’s nothing there and sat at the Speights Brewery (who took half an hour with my chai latte) until Dave had finished. His meeting ran late so we hit the road straight away.

We stopped briefly at Hokitika for food and a look around then continued to Franz Josef Glacier where we were staying.

We had dinner at King Tiger next to our hotel which seemed like it was confused as to which cuisine it sold but the Indian was nice.

Our hotel was lovely too. Brand new, the Aspen Court Hotel had beautiful comfy beds (a king + 3 singles) but lacked furniture in the main lounge.
