Polo in the city – Brisbane

Ka Lei and I were invited to the Polo in the City event on Saturday. Well Ka Lei was, and luckily for me, her fiancé was out of town so I got the extra ticket.

Wristbands in check, we spent a fab afternoon in the marquee and field-side, watching the polo, mingling and sipping champagne.

We even snuck into the Pol Rogers tent, couldn’t help ourselves! We lasted two glasses of champagne and a popsicle before being kicked to the curb by two burly security guys. Quite the champagne fuelled adventure.

The corporate marquees were done really well. Fitted out nicely with great beverage selection and catering. The truffle Mac and cheese and ocean trout salad were beautiful. Felt very weird to eat them out of polystyrene bowls with wooden disposable forks.

They had a few cool traditions and activations throughout the day, Nova’s cash run was hilarious. Divet stomping at half time filled the traditional box and of course fashions on the field.

Speaking of fashion, one would think a polo outfit would be easy, right?! Wrong. We spent all Friday searching for an outfit for me and shoes for Ka Lei to no avail. I luckily bought mine Saturday morning pre event, with the help of a wonderful fashion assistant at Sheike in Wintergarden.

As it turns out, there are webpages and Instagrams dedicated to what to wear to the polo! Seems like everyone has the same issue, you just need to do some googling.

We ended up at Darling & Co but not for long, the polo is a big day!
