REVIEW | The Empire Strips Back – Buy Tickets Now

Sexy Storm Troopers

On Friday night we headed to The Empire Strips Back. I was excited but my expectations were low, I hadn’t heard much about it or seen much on social media. Their social media certainly doesn’t do them any justice, but then again, I suppose they don’t want to give too much away and word of mouth drives sales.

Well, boy were we impressed. Dancing-in-your-seat, laughing-your-ass-off, holy-wow-look-at-the-costume-design, how-hot-are-those-women, impressed!

I should probably explain what the show is… The Empire Strips Back is a Star Wars burlesque parody. Let me spell it out, The Empire Strikes (Strips) Back. Got it? Think sexy Star Wars characters sharing… other, more private sides to their character.

The first scene is a ravishing ‘Luke Skywalker’ in a carwash (space-car-flying-vehicle-thing), making sure the vehicle is super soapy. There’s all sorts of fun and clever piss-taking with different characters for a good two hours of sexy hilarity. I don’t want to give too much away, all the surprises add to the fun of the show.

As well as the show itself, the design of the set and specifically, the costumes is incredible. Absolute props to the designer for making some very revealing, yet unrevealing (less is more sometimes) outfits with clever lighting. As well, the music is on-point. We were dancing in our seats most of the show, along with the rest of the audience.

And after all that, if you’re still not sold, there’s a wookiee-off. That’s right, a wookiee-off. They get the crowd to do their best wookie calls and choose which is best! Get practicing.

Seriously though, who doesn’t mind a bit of raunchy Star Wars fun among friends and 300 other people on a weekend! To wrap; hilarious, incredible stage & costume design, clever scripts, wookie-off’s and sexy women (plus one guy) – what more could you want?! Buy all the tickets!

PS. Did anyone else know Darth Vadar was a dominatrix?!
PPS. Looks like they’re in Sydney next, then Newcastle.
PPS. The Storm Troopers. That’s all I’m going to say.

**Attempting to abide by the rules, I didn’t take any pics during the show. I did, however, borrow some from the show’s social media – hope they don’t mind.
