Beirne Lane Dining – Fortitude Valley, Brisbane

My friend invited me to join her for lunch at Beirne Lane, in the Fortitude Valley Mall. I didn’t expect much, to be honest. It’s been a while since I have been in the mall and it just reminds me of being drunk and eating cheeseburgers in my early 20’s after raging nights at The Met nightclub. I was surprised to find that it seems to have grown up a bit and Beirne Lane is definitely influential in leading that charge.

The restaurant/bar has an old-world design feel. It’s stunning. I felt like I was in New York with the geometric lighting and strong lines. And while my friend described it as a pub, and hence I was expecting steak-Tuesday or 2-4-1 parma’s, I was excited to find an impressive and varied menu.

I chose the Quinoa Salad with crispy tofu (blew my mind how good this tofu was! I’m not sure how to describe it… kind of like fried chicken flavour?!), broccolini, mixed herbs, lemon vinaigrette and we sweet-talked the Chef into adding some poached chicken. Delicious! Fresh and healthy – just how I like my weekday meals… with a side of Margaret River chardonnay of course to wash it down.

I’m keen to go back and try the Beirne Burger and the ramen. I also hear they have some kind of a brunch party on Sunday’s which sounds fun!
