Las Vegas, Day 3

Massive day.

We checked out and I went to the Premium Outlets. I was hoping to find a handbag but no luck. I did however, get a few gifts and some new jean shorts to accomodate my ever growing booty.

I got changed at the hotel and took the Monorail from Bally’s Casino to MGM where the girls were at the Producers Pool.

We swam and sunbathed then went for dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. I’ve been to one before in Japan, I turn straight into a little kid when I get there! It’s a rainforest theme (obviously) with moving animals, aquariums and a sky which changes moods – anything from sunny to storming.

I ordered a huge meal, two pieces of tilapia with mango salsa, coconut prawns, scallops in a cheese sauce, fried zucchini and Caribbean rice. Yum!

The girls caught the monorail back while I walked back up the street to soak up the last of Vegas.

I met these two hilarious guys who were taking a break from their truck ride to have some beers. One drives while the other one sleeps, then they swap. They had me in stitches and walked me back to my hotel.

Lauren, Nikita and I took a cab to the airport to check in for our flight to Mexico. We had thought it was a long flights and we could just sleep through but as it turned out with the time difference it was only 3hours then a quick break in Mexico City (where we were told 3 different gate numbers for our flight) and it was surprisingly freezing!

Another two hour flight and we were in Cancun!

Las Vegas, Day 2

A big night out deserves a big sleep in, so that’s just what we did.

We then found the tacos place where we had lunch from the day before and had Mexican eggs… They were pretty average to be honest.

Pool party time!

Holy shitballs. Nothing could have prepared me for how freaking cool these things are!!!

We had guest list for Encore Beachclub, so we skipped the line and payment. I was blown away by what it was like inside!! People everywhere, drinking, swimming, dancing, partying.

What was incredibly cool was that everyone embraced their bodies. There were all body types and sizes there and everyone was confident and happy in the sunshine. All be girls have makeup on and heels, all looking amazing.

They had a fantastic bag check system. All your valuables go in a sealed bag, that’s then put in a bag with your other bags and a plastic wristlet (like what you get for festivals) is attached to you and only cut off once you have all your items back. Was liberating not to have our bags and phones and swim when we pleased, not worrying about the security of our items.

Drinks weren’t cheap, Bud beer was $12 (in an awesome aluminium bottle – why don’t Aus do this?) and vodkas were $20 plus tip. In saying that, one vodka was more like 3 due to free pour! It was hectic. I had a blast.

Tommy Trash DJd the set most of the day, everyone just went crazy. There’s 4 big parts to the pool and the whole place is surrounded by cabanas and private areas across two levels. How I wished I was VIP there!

The sun was streaming down on us but we weren’t burnt at all.

We went for burgers (blue cheese for me) and garlic chips and I walked home while the girls stayed on for more drinks – I’d had more than enough! I took an hour nap which turned into 10 hours sleep! The girls came home from the pub and crashed so that was our last night in Vegas.

USA & Mexico 2015

Yeap – finally booked my next trip!

This has got to be the longest I have gone in years without a trip overseas (NZ & Oz don’t count as overseas) so I am super excited to have my next two week jaunt booked in!

The rough itinerary is:

7-12 August: NYC
12-15 August: Las Vegas (read pool parties)
15-22 August: Mexico

So two old favourites plus somewhere new with Mexico! I have never visited NYC or Vegas in the summer, only in cooler months – super excited for rooftop bars and pool parties.

We are looking at flying into Guadalajara then busing to Puerto Vallarta. We have a week total in Mexico – any recommendations are welcome! Flights are reasonable to Cancun and Guadalajara but Oaxaca is quite expensive.
